Doctor Haack comes to Piedmont International University through a salvation testimony which began to change his life in 2007. When his son was diagnosed with autism in 2012, he was compelled to apply at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where his doctoral research intersects attitude theory, social distance theory, and contact theory with Christian theology in a focused effort aimed at helping the church understand and improve its relationship with people who have disabilities.
Prior to becoming a research professor, Dr. Haack spent 28 years on active duty in the US Navy, where he was an operational medicine specialist and instructor who made many deployments in support of Naval and Marine Corps forces as a Medical Corpsman; and later, as a Medical Service Corps Officer.
In his spare time Dr. Haack enjoys traveling with his family and coaching football, where he has helped teams win championships in the NCAA, high schools, and amateur club-teams for the last 30 years. Dr. Haack and his wife live in the Piedmont Triad area and are active in teaching and missionary ministries in their local church.
