I am a licensed athletic trainer for the state of North Carolina and an Emergency Medical Response Instructor trained through the American Red Cross. I am from Michigan originally and went to the University of Toledo for undergrad, where I majored in Athletic Training. I also went to Ohio University and obtained my Masters in Athletic Training. I have worked for Varsity Spirit Corporation since 2011 and have traveled all over the United States providing first aid treatment to dance and cheer camps and competitions.
After graduate school I moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where I worked as an athletic trainer and adjunct faculty member at Towson University. After two years in MD, I moved to Connecticut with my husband and continued my education at Springfield College in Massachusetts in the PhD Teaching and Administration program. While at Springfield College I also taught graduate level research courses, the emergency medical response certification course for first year athletic training students, and general health and wellness courses. I worked as an athletic training graduate teaching fellow and preceptor for Elms College through Springfield and helped to develop the institutions' emergency action plan protocols specific to various athletic-related injuries and illnesses as well as their rehabilitation plans.
I am currently all but dissertation, planning to finish my PhD by summer of '22. I have volunteered as a member of the EATA Scholarship Committee, the NATA Transitional Employment Workgroup, and am currently the associate chair for the NCATA Scholarship and Honors & Awards committees as well as an item writer for the BOC Exam Development committee. I have also been a manuscript reviewer for the following research journals: Athletic Training Education Journal, Journal of Athletic Training, and the Journal of Sports Medicine & Allied Health Sciences.
I currently reside in Winston-Salem with my husband, Jason, and our 130-pound Newfoundland, Brewer.
