As the founder, former CEO, and chairman of BillPayers, Inc., Dr. Jones brings a tremendous amount of experience and expertise to the study of business and leadership. He was a Navy fighter pilot and a commercial helicopter pilot flying in some of the most remote regions on earth for firms engaged in the petroleum industry.  Currently in the process of publishing a leadership textbook, Dr. Jones is also actively contributing to journals such as the Harvard Business Review and presenting his research findings at conferences around the United States. Prior to coming to PIU, he was the dean of two schools of business and created the business program at Greensboro College. Dr. Jones is active in his community as a Presbyterian elder and a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Prison Ministries. He is also actively involved in Kiwanis and Rotary as well as the United Way and The Salvation Army.

Description

This course introduces the critical management skills involved in planning, structuring, controlling,
and leading an organization while providing a framework for understanding issues involved in both
managing and being managed in an organization to help students become more effective contributors
in the workplace. This course examines the effect of organizations’ decisions in contexts including
environment, strategy, structure, culture, tasks, people, and outputs.
