International Business (MG 330)

Term: 2019-2020 Summer

Faculty

Alexia Pedo Lopes

Hi everyone!

I am very excited to be a new faculty member here at PIU this summer!

I thought I would give you a little bit on my background...

I am currently doing a PhD in Sports Management at the University of South Carolina. Previously, I was in Europe for a few years and I got both my Bachelors and my Masters degrees at KU Leuven in Belgium, both in International Business. However, I was born and raised in Brazil and that is where my family lives.
I am passionate about traveling, hiking, meeting new people and being around different cultures. Volunteering is one of my greatest passions!
I am very enthusiastic about everything I do and, especially, about sports. I have always been very much involved on the sports scenario, mainly motorsports. My brother is a professional Motocross and Supercross rider, so that would be the sport I am most involved with as I always worked as his career manager.

I am always open for a coffee and a good talk -- even if now that would be through Zoom.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Description

This course introduces the major components (competitive, cultural, technological) that will typically be encountered in the international business environment and introduces the student to their individual and cumulative effects on organizational and managerial practices. This course also provides both a context and methodology for understanding the increasingly globalized world in which we live and applying business practices that leverage cultural sensitivity and inclusion.
