  • Week 1 [unit]

    Week One:
    1) Read the introduction and chapter one in Barber in preparation for the Discussion Board.

    2) Read the blog post Leadership in Nehemiah, 6 Marks of Leadership: Mark One: “Leaders Show Concern for God's Work” (Neh. 1:1-4), and 6 Marks of Leadership, Mark Two, “He Prays for God’s People” (Neh. 1:5-11).
    3) Read Eight Simple Steps to Preparing and Preaching a Sermon. Step One: CHOOSE THE
PASSAGE, Step Two: STUDY THE PASSAGE, Step Three: REDUCE THE SERMON TO
    ONE SENTENCE at drtimwhite.net.
    4) Read the blog post: Text-driven (Grammatical-Historical Hermeneutic) Preaching at
    drtimwhite.net.
State what percentage of the reading assignment you completed. For example, if you
have completed all assignments, state in one sentence, “I read 100 percent of this week’s
assignment.” The reading report is due by 11:30 pm Sunday.
    5) Sermon: State the Main Point of the Sermon (MPS) for the Manuscript Sermon on Biblical Leadership.
    6) Participate in the Discussion Board (150 words by Wednesday by 11:30 pm) and another 150 words in response to a student’s post by Sunday by 11:30 pm). The Discussion Forum question is: Defend your view that leaders are born or made.
    7) Participation: All students will be graded on listening to the recorded class lectures and
uploading one-page double-spaced notes for each lecture that reflect that the student
watched recorded videos before 11:30 on Sunday (a total of two pages posted simultaneously). This is part of your participation grade.
