Dr. Oviatt received his BA and MA at Piedmont International University. He completed his EdD at Liberty University in July 2023. His PhD at Carolina is ABD. 

 

Dr. Oviatt has served in ministry and leadership roles for over 45 years. He has been married to Denise for 44 years, and they have two adult children.

 

He is an adjunct professor at the Deaf Studies Program at Crown College of the Bible in Powell, Tennessee.

 

Dr. Oviatt is also the Director of the Deaf Studies Program and is an adjunct professor in the DMin and MMin programs at Piedmont Divinity School at Carolina University,

Description

This course is a continued introductory study of American Sign Language (ASL). Instruction touches on additional types of sentences and discourse structure. There is a specialized focus on spatial agreement, use of space, number, and family. Students will continue developing their expressive and receptive skills in ASL while enhancing their Conversational Skills signing skills through interactive exercises.
