Dr. Oviatt received his BA and MA at Piedmont International University. He completed his EdD at Liberty University in July 2023. His PhD at Carolina is ABD. 

 

Dr. Oviatt has served in ministry and leadership roles for over 45 years. He has been married to Denise for 44 years, and they have two adult children.

 

He is an adjunct professor at the Deaf Studies Program at Crown College of the Bible in Powell, Tennessee.

 

Dr. Oviatt is also the Director of the Deaf Studies Program and is an adjunct professor in the DMin and MMin programs at Piedmont Divinity School at Carolina University,

Description

This course is a continued intermediate study of American Sign Language. Instructional activities continue to develop students' familiarity and fluidity regarding ASL vocabulary, complex sentence structure, as well as receptive and expressive skills. There is a strong focus on classifier usage and storytelling. Students engage in spontaneous, informal conversations, discussion topics, and give formal ASL presentations on a variety of topics.
