Dr. Todd Martin is a retired superintendent, which means he now only supervises his five kids, four grandchildren, and one dog—and frankly, the dog listens best. Dr. Martin spent a good chunk of his life in education (34 years in fact) - starting as a teacher and coach, then a principal, and eventually climbing the ranks to superintendent of Yadkin County Schools (either he really loved school or he just couldn’t find the exit).  After earning degrees from Western Carolina, Appalachian State, and Gardner-Webb (yes, he collects diplomas), Dr. Martin led Yadkin County Schools with purpose and a good bit of caffeine.  During his tenure, he launched innovative programs like Shore Scholars and Surry-Yadkin Works—because apparently, he thought high schoolers needed jobs and scholarships. These days, he's channeling his energy into building support for the Shallow Ford Foundation, a noble mission fueled by coffee and spreadsheets - because apparently, "retirement" means just finding new ways to stay busy.  When he's not working, he's likely reading, spending time outside at the pool or in the garden, or gently reminding people that "superintendent" is just a fancy word for “professional problem solver in a suit.”
