Dr. Oviatt received his BA and MA at Piedmont International University. He completed his EdD at Liberty University in July 2023. His PhD at Carolina is ABD. 

 

Dr. Oviatt has served in ministry and leadership roles for over 45 years. He has been married to Denise for 44 years, and they have two adult children.

 

He is an adjunct professor at the Deaf Studies Program at Crown College of the Bible in Powell, Tennessee.

 

Dr. Oviatt is also the Director of the Deaf Studies Program and is an adjunct professor in the DMin and MMin programs at Piedmont Divinity School at Carolina University,

Description

This course presents a holistic approach to poverty alleviation, which involves understanding the local context and culture, working with communities to identify their strengths and assets, and empowering people and communities to take control of their own lives. Students will learn the history of development, principles and practices of Transformational Development, and various approaches to development including a Chrisitan understanding.
